We have cheeping and 'ticking' sounds coming from the eggs!!!

Day 21 is Saturday- so these may arrive early???

I left Alice, Beyonce and Bertha all sharing 2 eggs in a 12x16" box!!

I've found one of their eggs cold from time to time, so I'm expecting nothing (would be due next weekend) - but it's keeping them off the daily eggs being laid- so I'm happy for them.

fingers crossed for all 4 hatching safely ( and if there is a little bit of luck going spare- please could they all be gals- and one white and 3 black would be a perfect Easter gift for us!!!!)

They may start tomorrow but not finish till Saturday. Fingers crossed! I assume you will put all chicks with just one hen, otherwise the hens may squabble over who takes charge of them.

Yup-Tippy Toes is the mom of these 4.

The other 2eggs can't be viable seeing as how much time they've been abandoned in the early days. They would be a week later- so I'll let the 3 gals sit whilst TippyToes has a week of finding her feet .After that they'll be locked outside to cool off.
If they do show an interest in these chicks- rather than sitting, then I'll kick them out earlier.
I have my bunny hutch on standby just in case though!

RH- how are you eggs coming on for Easter???

Well........... At best I'll have just two in time for Easter (due tomorrow or Sat) but they have been under a hen in the main hen house and she has been booted off once or twice by the others. I tried her in a separate coop but she didn't like it so I had to put her back again. The next lot (Buff Orps and LS) are not due till next Wed. Other lots due on 12th, 15th and 20th.

We also had our power cut off today (maintenance work on telegraph poles) so I had to take the eggs out of the incubator and stick them under a hen too. Fortunately I have most of my bantams broody at the moment so no shortage of hot little birds to put eggs under. All the broody coops are full and the nest box is now full as well. Just a heaving mass of grumpy little girls and three bewildered cocks wondering where the harem has disappeared to!!

I laughed out loud at the mental pic I had of this. I've got eggs galore, but no broodies. If I leave a couple of pot eggs in my banty coops would it encourage them to go broody? They're Wyandottes by the way, do they go broody at all anyone?
Nicos, cos all my eggs have been incied I've never heard the chicks The inci is too loud. Cant wait to see the picis..good luck. By the way my eggs that didnt get turned properly and had power cuts still hatched, so you never know, that second lot may still surprise you, fingers crossed.

chirping souinds coming from under Tippy Toes!!!

Looks like there are a couple of black chicks with yellow tummies ( and feathery feet!)- one egg partially open with a black chick resting ( or dead???)and the 4th egg is chirping! YEY!

...got to go out for the day now- so left some crumb in with them and will trake piccies when get back!

I've got three - two Coppers - clean legs, one Cuckoo - feathery legs. Neighbour had two Coppers - one with, one without. Work that lot out - I can't!
