Nicos is quite right, it is illegal to bury them in case they are diseased and it spreads if foxes or rats dig them up. Moot point anyway, as I imagine your ground is frozen. Incineration or dustbin are your options sadly. I had to put my favourite chook in the bin after my dogs murdered her
If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing to excess
Sorry, it's sad but at least she had a good life with you.

sorry you lost your bird, do bring the other one in the warm, just in case. i have built up a chicken first aid box for times like this, I have a cat carrier, old towels, cotton wool etc - also a really useful addition has been an old calpol syringe, easy to wash and perfect for getting fluids into them. may I also recommend a product called EMP.You can buy it in a farm/pet store. Its about 3 a small bag and is basically a dried food you mix with warm water - its aimed at breeders of budgies/canaries but really perks sickly chickens up - they love it!
Sorry to hear she died Veggielover. Your vet will dispose of the body for you if you can get it there. I take mine there - they charge 10 money well spent for me.
Only just caught this thread Veggielover. How sad. If they are old girls and coming naturally to the end of their lives, it sounds as though her time was up and you couldn't have done much. It's so upsetting though - I do feel for you.
How sad for you but I bet she had a lovely, happy life with youand you made her last moments comfortable. What have decided to do with her now?
I didn't know you can't bury hens, will store that info away, I don't think I could put them in the bin just seems wrong somehow. I'd have to be totally soft and take the body to the vets.
Hope all your other girls are OK.x
