Never experienced it, but chances are it was an old one. As you say, if the eggs were from E Bay, then really they could be any age.

I think Lynda had something similar happen to her first attempt at incubating last year, but it was towards the end of the 3 weeks. I'd definitely go with the "old egg" theory

One of mine started to leak and smell. On close inspection it had a hairline star crack in it, which i hadnt seen when i looked them over before sticking them in the inci. Right pain having to empty and scrub quickly!!!
