Well Coco and Elvis were named in a vine competition when Lynda hatched them.

as were neva and phoenix ... pingu just looked .. well like pingu .... the ducks were called roast and crispy for obvious reasons ... and well none of the others have names, cos i didnt want to name a boy then go through the awwwwwww we're gonna eat buttercup thing again.

Naming your chooks

Original 3 were Barley, Saffron and Damson. Now have Barley, Mugi (Japanese for Hen) Thunderbird and Victoria Plum.

We've got 5 girls, Clara the chicken, Hazel and Harriette the Hens and the new girls are Nuzzle and Scratch from CBeebies.

Well I had Blackie (last survivor of the previously unnamed Black Rocks, after I got a buch of Warrens) Mr and Mrs Cochin (buff pair I bought from a neighbour when she was getting divorced), Cuddles (given by the same neighbour as he was mis-marked, so no use to her) Smokey and Sooty (hatched by a tiny black bantam who mated with Cuddles), but most of them never had names. Oh yes, Cuddles did have one hen just like him, she was known as "Cuddles' girlfriend".

our 3 originals were named after characters from Victoria Wood's "Dinnerladies" - Dolly, Jean and Twinkle (with the option to add more characters later)

We got more realistic when we moved with the resident predator population, so didn't name our 6 new Rhodies, but gradually they got christened according to their physical characteristics - Stripes, Tiny, Brownie, Stripes Junior, Stripes Mini, Teeny-tiny.

Edith because she looked like an old lady when she was asleep and Edith seems like an old lady name, Nancy because of her fancy hairdo - fancy Nancy has the biggest crest - and Barbara because she's the sensible one and I liked the reference to the Good Life.

Also known as the Custard Creams (Crested Cream Legbars) or the biscuit sisters.

*Next pair of cuckoo maran banties Rand and Min (robert jordan..wheel of time series) cos he knows best and shes neat tiny and beautiful
*Pr buff orp banties Tuppence (always sticks his 2pence worth in) and twinkle
Silver sussex cockeral, Snadger (reminded me of a pici on one of his posts) and his two wives Magrat (wet hen) and Esme (terry pratchetts discworld witches) (( Bluemoon))

Cennie (Welsh version of Kenny - my uncle, yes I know hens are girls)
Ingrid (after the film star, my OH thinks Ingrid is so beautiful)
Betty (after the song Black Betty - she is a black cochin)
The Five Deirdres (we were calling our next one Deirdre, ended up with 5 legbars couldnt tell 'em apart so they are all Deirdre!)
Trudy - our newest recruit who was given to us by another who had already named her!!!

Whilst that much is true, once my first lot of hens (with names like Scarlett, Miss Ellie, Gloria and Pol after a mix of favorite characters real and fictional) all mine became 'The girls' or 'The Boys' and there always seems to be a 'big chick'. This is whichever is the loner or odd one out and changes as the dynamic of the group changes. The last light sussex was named Thor when we thought we were keeping him. He was also known as 'Morgans Boy' too. No name now he's in the freezer though.
Having read through the above though, I might start with names again
