Faverolle cockerels!

I set 6 Salmon Faverolle eggs a while ago and two of them hatched. Unfortunately they were both cockerels.
They are now about 2 month old and are the sweetest chooks you could wish for. They are always the first to the door to be picked up and there is no hint of agression.
I have decided I have to keep one of them as i've grown quite attached to them...................which means the other will have to get the chop.
For breeding purposes I suppose I should keep the bigger of the two but for eating purposes the bigger of the two would be better culled.

I hope I can do it as I don't want to give away or sell either as they are so sweet and would just get bullied. (and I would worry that they weren't being looked after properly)
I have another 5 Light Sussex from the same hatch, but at this moment in time I don't know which are cockerels. I won't be so squeemish about culling these though as I'm not as attached as I am to the favs!

Couldn't you just make another coop & keep them both?
With the stresses I've entailed so far with our hatching...and we're only a week in...and knowing that IF(fingers crossed,positive thinking,& anything else that may help)any hatch,we're more than likely going to get some little boy ones...think this may be my first & last time of hatching eggs!!!(the Legbars we'll be able to tell from day old,so will be able to part with them before getting too attatched,but not sure about the others)

I have to admit that I quite like Salmon Faverolles myself. I have a problem though, which is an entire allotment devoted to chickens (and possibly a second one) plus a mate who's a carpenter and actually enjoyed making our chicken house. He's currently making another one for when we have to separate our two boys, so theoretically once I start hatching I'll end up with more poultry than Bernard Matthews because I won't be able to part with any of them. I confess to having considered getting some Faverolle hatching eggs once I get a broody though.

if i was you and i was gonna keep one, then i would keep both you may find they live in complete harmony, then just do the deed if they get to be a problem together, some cocks are perfectly happy together as long as they have been brought up together, so i'd definitely try it ... but then i'm a softie lol

Tend to agree. No harm having 2 if they will live in peace together. Leave slaughter until they start arguing with each other!

My two boys are brothers..and get on a treat..one is clearly the boss - and the other one is fine with that!

I'm actually more than happy to have two lads watching over the gals- they work together- and you can hear them chatting between themselves as to any 'risk situation'

Why don't you consider rehoming one of them to someone with favs. They won't get bullied then.

Ps: keep that wee ugly one! He's gorgeous!!
