Spoilt chickens

Mine had the remains of the toddler's group christmas party food, as I collected it I mentioned to the other mums it would be dinner for the children (credit crunch), shall probably have social services round soon!
Probably not the healthiest treat ever but the chickens didn't seem too worried!

How do you make a mash-not done it yet but I'm sure they'd like it.

my babies are currently trying to work out what on earth a broccoli leaf is doing in with them, don't think their little beaks can actually bite it yet.

Use some layers pellets in a container, add some hot water to make a mushy (not too wet) mash, add other stuff into it such as cooked potato peelings, sweetcorn, cooked porridge (made with water), pasta, mashed potato anything really.

Tomorrow morning mine are having porridge, orange and apple mush (left over from making apple jelly and orange marmalade) potato peelings and mushy peas (left over from dinner) all cooked up together and left to cool. I don't put the pellets in till just before giving it to the chooks

Surely you mean you had the leftovers for dinner,after having prepared a little more than they needed!??....don't want the good ole H&Speeps knocking upon yer door!!

Well I've just 'spoilt' myself by adding raisins to my morning porridge!!

( didn't fancy adding the egg and potato peelings though)

It's belting it down with rain this morning so the chooks have grabbed a quick brekky of pellets from under the mini-gazebo and dashed to shelter under the hedge. They'll get their warm treat a bit later on I think. Wouldn't want to be a chicken in this weather - wouldn't want to be any animal living out in this!!

Nope, the horses said no chance so they're in and the girlies are safely tucked away in Chookenham Palace.

BTW, mine also love grated cheese

I think they should really stay on chick crumbs for a bit longer. I know they look boring, but there's all the nutrients they need in there to grow big and strong. Also, think about other kinds of babies - they don't start eating grown-up food for ages, their digestive systems just can't cope. I'm fairly sure you didn't give Rob a chocolate biscuit when he was only 24 hours old (or did you? ) It might seem cruel to you, but it's being kind really

Went down to feed mine and none were out in the run. Given them food in the shed, luckily its 7ftx7ft, so plenty of room inside for them all.

i did reply earlier but it vanished ...... i was joking really lol, although they can have a few bits of fresh veg, and they have a piece of millet in the corner, they love pecking everything at the moment in case it's food, but i promise no choccie for them till they are big children ....... they had fun with a broccoli leaf last night, their beaks arent tough enough to break bits off yet, so they were grabbing hold, pulling and falling over backwards ..... then they would get up looking disgusted then peck the one next to them as if it was their fault
