I'd say old age. The 'paint-spraying' process is a bit erratic at first and towards the end. And as chickens age, their whites become waterier, making it more difficult for the shell to form in its usual manner.

Yup...Old age. We only get one a week max from each of those oldies but for some reason the wrinkly one s appeared 2 days apart.
The Marans are unusual in that they coat their eggs as the last bit of processing ,so , when freshly laid , you can smudge the colour off them."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
