Awww, Congratulations Lynda! I have been watching this thread (for what seems like months) but was trying (unsuccessfully) not to get too drawn in. That chick is a little darling though, it makes me want to dash out and buy an incubator of my own......perhaps I'd better read the earlier threads again, I'm not sure I'd have your tenacity. You really deserve those lovely little chicks for all your hard work. Well done.

lol, sorry you really should get broadband you know lol ....... i'll take some more piccies in a bit, there is another one half way out now, but it doesn't look too healthy but hopefully it will perk up once it dries off and has a little rest.

to be honest, i'm not sure what they are exactly the ebay description was 10 chicken hatching eggs all crossed silkys, polish, leghorns, warrens, ixworth, stars and marans.

wonders how many incubators will be sold on ebay in the next week sorry to be such a bad influence, but now i've hatched some ...... oh dear, i may have to do ducks next

and today it actiually seems worth the heartache of the others, just to have at least 1 little chick alive

Have you got an ordinary lamp you can rig up over the box? Will provide some warmth? Propogator for your seeds? - Could go under the box?, Next to the radiator? Hot water bottles underneath?

i have a clip on lamp, the bulb gets quite hot, but i'm not sure that will be ok?? i got an infra red one specially for babies cant believe it actually exploded ....... i'm sure they'll be fine i'll try the lamp and see, and if it isn't warm enough, i'll nip into town and see what i can do ....... gotta admit ...... i cried too

You've got a thermomomometer haven't you? So that's ok, you can check if it's too chilly They'll be ok in the incubator for a few hours while you sort something out won't they?

it's fine at the moment, she's nice and snug down my cleavage lol, the second one is out, but doesn't look too good, and this little one kept jumping on it so i've taken her out

anyway, still 7 more to go lol

i think they are all crossed with everything hilary, who knows lol, but she was out of one the very dark maran eggs, so her mum was maran/maran cross, no idea what her daddy is though, good innit
