We are getting some chicks tomorrow!

Very excited - we are getting some chicks tomorrow - they are about 3 days old.

First time we are rearing chicks - anyone got any good advice?

congratulations!!!!!!
Mine are 6 weeks old now and have just moved into the coop. The only advice I can give is enjoy them when they are small. You will only be able to keep them in that brooder for a few weeks and then they will be to big. As soon as they get some wing feathers they will fly (or should I say flap frantically) and clear the edge. The feeder you have in there is a perfect shelf to jump on then over the edge. I cover mine with a removable fine wire mesh, so I knew they would be where I left them. I kept a diary for the first few weeks I would be more than happy to send it to you, it only tells my personal experiences of there young days.

Blimey - you weren't joking were you - there are two cheeky little individuals who enjoyed jumping on the sides turning around so that there bums were outside brroder and pooing over the floor! Put a stop to that over the weekend - and got something with a lid - ha ha!! That will teach them!

ha ha! we've got 6 people coming round for dinner and it keeps increasing! Two of them will be our christmas dinner but as my boyfriend is unemployed at the moment we are planning on giving some away as christmas presents - I've done some pickles and chutneys and jams and stuff to go with them.
Its amazing - if someone had told me this time next year we would be growing our own chickens I wouldn't have believed them!!!
