I ended up with 3 books - all good and all just that little bit different:
Starting with Chickens - A beginners guide. (Already mentioned)
Then I got, (with chooks) Keeping Pet Chickens by Johannes Paul & William Windham - a colourful guide
A bit more indepth - Poultry - A guide to management by Carol Twinch
As I say, all good books, all slightly different so I go to all three for advice - then ask on here too
