    Hi really proud that my hollyhock has flowered for the first year.Lovely flowers but the leaves have let it down badly wrinkled up with orange spots all over them can anyone solve my problem thanks :

    Rust. They are martyrs to it. Well known fact. I don't know if anything can be done about it though. Sorry.

      I don't think it can Flum. Mine had rust last year and they were supposedly rust tolerant. They probably have it this year too but the snails have skeletonised the leaves so it is very hard to tell. LOL! The flowers look fine though.

        My Hollyhocks last year were covered in rust but the blooms just kept on coming and were pretty spectacular. As the other grapes before me have said, rust and Hollyhocks go hand in hand - the plant can tolerate it and still bloom, so you just have to learn to do the same. Sorry, but I don't know of any treatment that is effective

          I read that "new" hollyhocks, ie spring sown rather than autumn sown, are more rust-resistant. Though I have both, and they all had rust, until the gales blew them all horizontal.
