Myself and a small group of friends took over an allotment three weeks ago. It was pretty overgrown, but we're doing well so far... 12 out of 17 beds cleared of weeds and general rubbish, and planted; the shed and gate repaired and much useful stuff scrounged. This last week we've seen a Peacock butterfly hatch out in the strawberry bed and noticed that the gooseberries are just starting to form tiny fruits: suddenly all that backbreaking work seemed worthwhile!

Even more rewarding is the gallon of dandelion wine that's now happily burping away on my kitchen windowsill, earmarked for the allotment group's christmas party!Originally posted by Nicos View PostHi there, and a big welcome to the Vine from me too!!
