Fresh manure. How long until safe to use and can I put it in my composte bin?

A few farms around here are giving away free manure and I was wondering how long does it take to become safe to use for 99% of crops?
Also can I shove it in my composte bin with the rest of my bits for it to break down and thus produce a composte/well rotted manure mix? Or would it be best to have a separate composte bin for the manure?

I am sure more learned grapes than I will comment but as a top dressing this time of year on empty beds it will be fine but do not use it on young plants as it will be too strong. I always put my surplus in the compost bin.

Some will advise not to grow roots in the beds you manure but I always do and have no more forking than ifi never

Raw manure isn't good for anything but stacked in a heap on the plot or added to the compost heap and mixed is good. What sort of manure is it? Horse or cow? I ask because Aminopyralid a selective herbicide used for control of broadleaved weeds in horse pasture can cause havoc in a vegetable garden. There are many threads on this forum on the subject. Check with the farmer that it isn't polluted before you take delivery
