Courgette curry

I picked my first courgettes yesterday and had them with my Sunday dinner.

Picked 4 of 5 plants I have last night, all around 4-5 inches long and 2-3 inch girth.

Grated into cheese on toast - amazing.

Just inspected my courgette and it seems to be rotting from one end
I had noticed a slight rot before but it seems to be progressing.
I will have to cut it off.
I expect 3/4 of it will be fine hopefully

I just tried a bit of my courgette raw.
I was quite surprise, it tasted quite nice bit like a mild apple or unripe pear bit hard to describe but I would be happy with it in a salad should taste nice fried too.

Other people eat them raw too apparently.

I have never eaten one before either
Will it poison me?
I guess I should pick it soon?
I will try it in a salad like cucumber and also try frying it with my fried breakfast!! (sounds disgusting lol )

So pleased it didn't poison you!! I'm just eating a couple of courgettes, thinly sliced and stirfried with some small french beans, cut exceedingly finely.
The very small courgettes can taste a bit like melon - Oh and my dogs love them too!!

Esbo the rotting is caused by the flower failing to fall of as part of the natural cycle, when this happens the flower rots and can pass it on to the fruit.

I have had to remove most of my flowers by hand this year as a prevention.

Yes I though it tasted a bit like melon but drier and not as sharp perhaps, I don't eat a lot of melon really.

I will have to look out for that I can't remember if the flower off or not. It probably didn't.


I do recall seeing a fallen flower today not too sure where it came from but I only recall
one fruit, I am sure I had more than one flower.
