Hi, can anyone advise if copper tape does the trick to stop slugs? As in my greenhouse the little blighters have managed to climb to the top of my shelving and eaten the tasty small leaves on my toms and left the stalks!

Last year I read somewhere that a 2 inch wide band of petroleum jelly/vaseline smeared thickly around the outside of pots and containers would stop slugs. I bought a big jar from the local 99p shop and applied it. I didn't get any slug damage last year so it seemed to work. It's also the best thing for greasing autovents.

My garden is slug infested, always has been, worse during wet summers.

I tried pellets, petroleum jelly, copper bands.. nothing stopped them.

Nematodes made them disappear completely the year I applied them and reduced them greatly the following year. It's only now, two full years later that they're coming back in force. Not bad for 6 or 7 squigglies
