Just wondered if anyone has grown microclover as an alternative to ordinary lawn grass and what results they achieved. I' m nearly ready to to seed a patch of mud having killed off invasive weeds and fancy putting someting different down. Anyone?

The only thing I can think of that is a micro clover is 'suckling clover' which is a pernicious weed of close cut lawns?

Not a bad idea, it certainly grows better than lawn grass. I'm going to try a creeping thymeLast edited by Two_Sheds; 19-04-2011, 07:50 AM.All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

Thanks for that two sheds, I like the idea of creeping thyme as well. My initial thought was to attract wildlife but have to admit that I hate mowing grass as it's too much like hoovering! I'm down to two small patches now, the rest is flower beds and veg patch-much more interesting.Gardening forever- housework whenever

I'm not sure what 'micro-clover' is, but our lawn is only green where the clover is! It's pretty and soft to sit on so I have no problem leaving it to spread over our pitiful grass which the neighbours assure me was only laid 3 or 4 years ago!
Go for it!
Does creeping thyme create enough of a mat to use as lawn? I'm using it in my flower beds x

Clover areas are only green cos its a legume and fixates its own nitrogen from the atmosphere!Originally posted by Poddington Pea View PostI'm not sure what 'micro-clover' is, but our lawn is only green where the clover is!
