Which way to face the beds

I am very fortunate in that I can dedicate a huge amount of space to fruit and veg, I am planning out a kitchen garden within a 10 mtr by 9mtr space.
The garden faces south.
I spent all afternoon yesturday pegging out beds, of 100cms by 250cms and the design I have created has them going across the garden so east west or west east ? is that the best layout ?

I will have 8 beds ! and being a novice not much idea how to arrange the planing and how to ensure when one crop comes out another is ready to go in !

I don't think it really matters becasue there is bound to be a time when you're growing someting tall in front of something else & it'll still grow. I would have said have the eds running North South if you'd asked me then the sun (rising in the East & Setting in the West) would shine across the crops in the bed equally ( if you plant across the bed) but as I say, I guess it doesn't really matter so long as they get some sun.

I agree with Nick, only because my beds run roughly North/South.!!

What you can do though, as I sometimes do, is plant the rows along the beds rather than across.
As long as they can be maintained from the paths it doesn't matter too much!

Hello PP, I reckon in a south facing plot you've got the east-west orientation for your beds spot on. That way they'll get the sun all day long without tall plants at the south end shading plants to the north of them. Good luck with the project.
