everytime i think i am starting to get my head around gardening it throws me another issue can you help and tell me where im going wrong with these leaf disorders

Hello, can you tell us a little more about them please, are they inside or out?

I think the carrots are too wet? Looking at the soil surface, it looks like it's turning green. I think you have drainage issues, which might be preventing oxygen from getting to the roots. Try checking the drainage holes, and maybe watering a bit less.

The tomatoes are scorched, either by the sun hitting water on the leaves, or by wind, or by frost. Depends where they are as to which one it could be.

Really would be better not in the greenhouse, specially carrots (if that's what they are). The other piccy looks like tomato leaves, and it's far too late in the year to be starting them off.

re the toms it was just an experiment with my new 6x4 poly greenhouse to see if i could grow toms and carrots in there out of season so to speak.... i had 15 tom plants distroyed by blight this year i had nothing to loose by trying. so your saying there is no way i can to grow toms all year round or start them from seed now... re the carrots the type is parmex small round carrots " ideal for pots" im told a i do miss my own as i have i used all my harvested ones so is this a no no too thanks for you help

Hi Nosferato - the poly greenhouse will be too cold for your toms over winter anyway - but your carrots may succeed- you never know till you try. Parmex are indeed good for pots as they don't need really deep ground to grow in. I have sown a batch outside and I'm planning to put a plastic cloche over if necessary if it starts getting really cold - but I'm quite far south - why don't you put your location on your details and you may get some close neighbours replying with advice relevant to your local climate.

You might nurse the tomatoes into a few fruits, but only if you keep the greenhouse heated to above 5c, and preferably more like 10c. That can be an expensive exercise You might have more luck on a sunny windowsill at home, but to be honest, I think they'll struggle because of the shorter days.

Your carrots will probably do fine, if they stop being waterlogged.

I'm growing carrots in the greenhouse for small winter crops; I had an old orange plastic container and I thought - why not????

Tomatoes; they will not produce fruit now, but if you've got the space you could use it as a monitor for next year as to when they are likely to die off in the greenhouse. I have taken cuttings from toms that I want to grow next year and they are at the moment in the greenhouse; they will come indoors in a few weeks for the winter to see if I can get them to grow next year. It's all about experimenting; but ease off on the watering!!!!
