Polenta is the way to go with ants ( keep it dry though) It makes them explode when it is eaten and expands.I understand it's safe for other wild life.

Ants often indicate greenfly/blackfly infestation....have a nosy around..you may be able to add them to your list of attractions!!!

i also saw a critter like a tiny centipede but it had antlers.. what could that be and what is it doing in my onion bucket??

Tis corn meal. You can buy it in packets and it looks a bit like cous cous
