Why do my marrrow plants have mostly male flowers on them?

Hi Taitquiz and welcome to the Vine!

My understanding from reading many grapes' posts is that the male flowers often come first in profusion and then a little later the female ones start arriving. Why they do it this way I have no idea and if I have got it wrong, one of the more knowledgeable grapes will put us right!
