We all use these, I presume? You can get them for nothing from supermarkets, mushrooms and spring onions come in them. If you make friends with an assistant they will save them for you. Mine come from Lidl, they save loads for me.
The problem is, once you have seedlings in them they aren't stackable any more (no room for the seedlings to grow)
So, to give a little headroom you need one, or more, of these
They are available from the big DIY retailer, found in just about every out of town shopping centre (OK, it's B&Q
) - 20mm thick wall conduit - 3metre length costs �1.98.

I always make a beeline for those trays but I think everyone else around here does too. Never thought of asking to have them put aside for me
