Getting permanent pen off plant labels

What we need is a scientist who can devise something made of everyday household chemicals that we can dip them in for instant renovation?

i'm a science technician will I do?
nail varnish remover/ i.e acetone/propanone - always works when stoopid teachers use permanent pen on whiteboards!

magic eraser sponge from poundshop works quite well on all except the blackest and even then it lightens it so you can overwrite it.

The last time I used permanent markers on labels the sun bleached the writing off. Try putting them out in strong sunlight.

Reuse them?

I do. It's just that I've 'rediscovered' quite a few through tidying and digging them up so I've got lots of duplicates and ones that I don't need. There's only so many trays of beetroot that I can sow!

Nail polish remover, or wet & Dry paper/fine sandpaper wrapped around a wooden block will do the trick.

I use that "astonish" stuff,with a plastic scourer to rub it in,takes just seconds,they come up like new and back in use..

ooooh , something i may have an answer for, nail polish remover, or acetone,, but for the future use whiteboard pens

Draw over the top with a normal dry wipe pen and rub of with a tissue, it should take off the perm ink from underneath

I have tried most of the ones above with mixed success. When all else fails I scrap them with an old pen knife.

I think my pen, although it says permanent, comes off with a bit of spit and a rough cloth. Alternatively, nailpolish remover does permanent pen removal at work, also that hand sanitising gel (alcolohol based) works wonders. Is it evident I work in a care home?

Only from the spit My Mum still tries to clean me up with spit and the corner of a hankie
