  • Concrete reinforcement mesh

Anyone know where I can get hold of A142 reinforcing mesh panel? I can see it online, but it only comes in huge sheets (this sort of thing)

    https://www.metals4u.co.uk/mild-stee...oaAkOsEALw_wcB

I only need a small piece to cover a pond. Do any of the Screwfix/B&Q type places sell it? Or does anyone have any other ideas of how to cover a pond (toddler proof).

    Thanks!
    He-Pep!

How about some chain-link fencing stapled to a wooden frame as a DIY alternative (you used to be able to get it green plastic coated to alter the appearance a bit) ?

Smallest size is 2.4x1.2m - too big to go in my car!

              No! They do honestly!

It forms a perfect top barrier I can stand on

Well that's what it says in the brief!

Speak to your nearby trade merchants. There may be a small delivery charge but if you say you don't wan't it desperately they may deliver free when in the area.

Mesh won't keep toddlers out either you need some strong struts underneath to support it.

I would make a frame as NickD has suggested and attach some form of mesh.
Maybe worth a trip to a dedicated steel place - they had loads of cheap options when I had a look around a few weeks back at my local one (when I bought my steel rods)....and so long as I spent more than a tenner they would cut it for free whatever size I wanted.

                  What about these?

I've just been in the garden and spotted a roll of welded mesh fencing....I used to use it for partitioning off the chickens. That's easy to get in your car and would work brilliantly fixed to a frame - fine for toddlers.

Yep that would do it, will have to think how to make a frame to fit the pond - if only it were rectangular

Unless its a really odd shape - I'd just make it rectangular and not worry about a bit of overhang.

Just a quick update. Turns out my local Homeb@se sold the exact stuff I wanted (200mm mild steel mesh) in smaller sheets! Just need to hacksaw it into the correct shape now, and it can sit over the pond permanently.
