    Just to update

Ive finished doing the cleft grafts on the m27 rootstocks.

I actually found the cleft graft easy for a beginner like me compared to others life the whip and tongue which is a bit more intricate.

I actually found electrical tape the easiest to work with as it bound the graft nice and tight, I hen covered the whole graft section with grafting sealant.

any idea with I should remove it? was thinking maybe July or August time?

The cleft is easier to do but you have less surface area for the graft to take. Swings and roundabouts.

I finished mine today - a mixture of clefts and saddles although a good number of the scions Id purchased were rotten / deceased (not impressed with that as they weren't exactly cheap.)

It's better to leave the tape too long than not long enough, the worse you can do is throttle the branch a bit. You'll know if the graft has taken pretty quickly but leave the support there until it's healed over, especially with the clefts as water likes collected down them.
