      Some nurseries bud graft in summer then cut off the rootstock to leave the grafted bud in winter, then let the bud grow into a maiden the next summer. If that's the case the grafted piece will be on one side and there will often be a kink where the bud starts growing out sideways and then gradually the shoot curves upwards as the bud found it could grow upwards in place of the rootstock stem above it which was removed.

        I don't think this is the case with these FB. I'll see how they get on this season but it may be the following season before I can tell if I've been sold "not to type" varieties. I don't hold out much hope to be honest
