Gooseberry Rust?

Is this gooseberry rust?

If so, are they edible? They taste sweet - a few of the berries I picked just have have it on - as well as some of the leaves.

I was wanting to make jam out of them, but wanted to check first incase it'd spoil the jam. Thanks!

Don't think so (but I'm prepared to be corrected). Sometimes they show colouration according to weather conditions. If they taste fine, they ARE fine! Happy jamming!

Ours look like this is you leave em long enough. No idea what is is but we still eat them.

We have two gooseberry plants, one that the fruit is turning a blush colour and you can eat straight off the bush, the other makes your eyes water I'm guessing the green ones I need to cook up with some sugar.

Yeah, I was surprised the first time we tried em off the bush. Left them a while until they gave a bit when you squeezed and they were really sweet. Not quite there yet, though, still a bit face contortingly sour, though Himself likes em like that

Made jam out of them, it's not as sweet as the fruit was by itself (thinking perhaps its the elderflower in it?) - it is sweet.. but it is tart! Almost like marmalade in texture. Nice though

Found out on another site it's what happens when a certain strain ripens - just as well as I'd scoffed a load

Ah right, that makes sense as ours got red specks on them when they were ripened.

Some types go see-though. My hard green ones do when they're really ripe.
