  • Strawberry Plants

    Hi everyone,
I've started tidying up my strawberry beds and the plants don't look too good. I've also probably got space for another row of plants.
Is it too late to put some bare root plants in and get something from them this year?
Would I be better off getting more established plants from a garden centre?
    Any advice welcome!
    Thanks

You can definitely still put bare root plants in and get a crop this year, it'll just be a bit later and you may need to water them more. Bare root strawberry plants are usually cold stored (in a giant fridge, essentially), so they'll still be dormant when they are sent to you.
Make sure you plant your new plants somewhere different though, not in the same place you removed the old ones. Soil diseases can build up, and if you replant in the same place the new plants can often fail to thrive.
