I have just run a search for black raspberry.
It looks like it might be a cultivated hybrid.

No, it's not a tayberry or a black raspberry (raspberries always come away without the core, whatever their colour).
Talking to my plot neighbour, it seems it's probably some sort of strange hybrid blackberry. It seems he planted it on the edge of his plot originally, and it made its what under the path to mine.

Sounds interesting. How did the berries taste?

( is he hoping you’ll give him some back?)

The flowers look exactly like my thornless BlackBerry ones do. Can't remember name, were from b&q few years ago

Are your thornless up to snuff? I have Waldo which is low yielding and poorly textured compared to the very thorny one I got from my parents.

            Thornless tayberry disappointing too.

The berries are very sweet when fully ripe; probably the best blackberry I have ever tasted. However they are slightly bitter when a bit underripe.
