  • Life after potatoes

Anyone got a good advice as to what I can do with the bed that had my potatoes in it after I have dug them all or should I grow green manure in it?

Prepare the bed for onion sets or plant leeks if you can get some plants. Winter cabbage, still time for lettuce etc.

I've been putting "whatever's ready" in empty gaps

I find winter cabbages do well where the tatties have just come from.

A few homeless leeks and dwarf French beans got bunged into my empty early potato bed this week.

Next year's Spring cabbage will go in when the 2nd earlies have been lifted.
