  • planning permission

We got onto our private brand new allotments on 1st March, hooray!! Last night got a phone call from the parish council, we dont have planning permission!! They said not to worry,& they would sort it out. hope so, we've all put so much work in the last three weeks. Didnt realize that from agricultural to allotment was change of use. Any one been in similar situation?

If I were you I'd check with the borough council.

Parish Councils do not have real control although some like to think they have it sounds wrong to need change of use for growing which is essentially an agricultural activity. It may be that a busybody on the parish has said this without actually knowing for fact. If planning was needed then the parish would have no power to 'sort it out' and you would have to apply for change of use.

Allotments now are classed as Leisure Gardens thing's may be different .
It may come under a different department in the council office's and they do not like to lose a bit of power....jacob
