  • Onions bolting

Quite a few of my onions both over wintering & this years have bolted. I have been told that they can be eaten ok but will not store well, is this correct ?

Bolted onions won't store and their bulbs wont get any bigger so pull them and eat them fresh.

Just pulled some of the spring sown reds. Nice strong greens on them so not going to waste

I just pull out any bolters and plant summat else. When a plant bolts it rapidly depletes the soil of nutrients.................so out they come! I haven't tried eating onion or leek scapes but garlic scapes are nice in a stir fry.
