So I managed to get an hour or two down the plot after work today, probably only 45 minutes working and the rest chatting lol
Got my three rows of spuds in they had chitted lovely, It's nice to finally have something in the ground and I like eating charlottes so can't wait to grow my own!
Whilst I was there one of the gents on the next plot gave me a spade that he had spare in his shed.. I was really pleased because the spade I have used the handle is missing so been back breaking using a busted spade, and also because he took the time to give me something that wil come in very useful over the next few years it was such a kind gesture.. he told me I was doing a good job too which was music to my ears, I thought I was going to be a constant source of amusement to the regulars lol
Then I got chatting with another regular about a potential full plot may be up for grabs and a few of them talked that they would like me to have it because I get on and get stuck in... maybe this will come off, maybe it won't but its something for me to consider.

A good day overall! makes all the digging seem worthwhile now

Well I had an hour down the plot again today and got three rows of garlic in, should be 75 bulbs to come up if it all takes and the birds dont pinch any, and also got a couple of rows of strawberries in, think there was 20 plants in total.. got these from the chap in the next plot who was clearing some space for raised beds for carrots so I gladly rehomed them

Also My giant marrow seeds arrived so I have got those started off at home in the conservatory

My gutter peas are starting to show so I think I will be making my pea frame up tomorrow if weather permits, its great to be seeing things coming together now.. just need the weather to be kind to me and keep on top of the weeds..

Well I had a spare hour today and decided that as my gutter peas are sprouting through the surface I would get my pea frame up, ao after spending a few hours scouring this forum and youtube for the last week this is my attempt at a pea frame, feels pretty sturdy and Im actually impressed so lets hope my crop of peas is worthy of such a magnificent structure LOL

Well I have finally got a greenhouse! after weeks of scouring the local freecycle page I have spotted two, missed the first and got the 2nd.. its in good shape and needs 2 panes.. I can live with that

Now for the hard part of dismantling and moving it.. will be fun in a Golf GTI with the seats folded lol

Take a black marker, WD40, 10mm Spanner, Pliers, Hacksaw with you & a camera. Write on the inside of the frame what bolts to what.....ie A-A-A..........B-B etc. Also take lots of photos cos you can guarantee when you get it home you won't have a clue what goes where. Might pay to order some w clips & nuts/bolts either from ebay or Wilko..............Good luck.

Yes will definitely mark it up and get lots of pictures, also watched a youtube video or three on dismantling, so will also take my small stepladders to make the roof a bit easier, im still unsure about permission as they say it has to be in writing in my paperwork, but have verbally had the nod from the site rep who said he will mention it at the next meeting and it also says maximum size 6x4 but I see a 10x10 on my site and a 8x6 on another site with the same people.. if I can id prefer to just whip the glass out and throw the entire built frame on a trailer and take directly to the plot and drop it down next to where it will be located and then at the weekend slab it and move it across.. but im still dubious about the permission, I think i need to talk with the site rep againand explain my predicament.. otherwise il need to strip it completely and store in my garden

Would a GH frame covered in netting count as a GH or a"fruit cage"?
That's what I've done with some cheap frames.
May be a way to get the site used to a structure of that size and you could glaze it later

I'm going to bite the bullet and ring the site rep and ask if im ok to drop it off directly to the plot, he didnt seem that worried about it when I spoke to him last week but im not sure if "i will mention it in the meeting" is permission or not lol seems a bit fuzzy but from speaking to others they never had permission they just put them up and watched the dust settle..

Just got the best news ever, the full plot pictured above is mine!! Its rent free on the basis I clear it ready for next year, just need to wait on the paperwork to be officialised and then I can put my greenhouse straight onto it at the back end.. I'm so pleased

Greenhouse and plot approval all in one day!!

And I potted my chillies on today too lol

Well yesterday the spuds popped on through the surface of the soil, the garlic is also up, some are around 4" and hoping the rest follows soon or it means some misfires or the birds had it away..

Peas are going from strength to strength as well, chillies are nearly all potted on and doing really well so far! Onions id given up on have now fired at last, they are only pickling onions so will let them grow to a size id like and then take them and give them a bath in vinegar.. just hoping and praying for my marrows to fire this week and then I will be very happy **Fingers Crossed**
