  • Slugs argharhghhh

I keep sowing carrots and turnips and the seedlings keep getting demolished. Every time I think my salad crops are looking good they are suddenly skeletons. I suspect they're all living in my compost heap. Pellets aren't working well enough, I can't go down late at nigh. It might be time to resort to nematodes.

Between the slugs and the weeding this allotment is doing my head in. I feel like 'm not accomplishing anything, even though I know that's not true really.

We all feel your pain. This has been the worst year ever for the slimy cretins. We've lost loads but thankfully a packet of nematodes has arrived in the post today. Mind, it will probably be completely dry now for weeks and they won't work.

Dilettante your salad crops may be falling victim to flea beetle as well.
Sorry that's not helpful is it? Just may not just be slugs. I left a kind of amusing slug story in the Vegging out section and there's lots of suggestions for foiling the slimy critters there too.
