  • IBC algae

Options for stopping it? Had a look around and seen:

bleach? 221 drops of thin bleach per icb?

copper sulphate? only one part per million, so one gram per 1000l ?

    water purification tablets?

    Barley straw?

    Anything else?

Potassium permanganate? I'm sure we used to use this in the water tank for a fountain.

Go to your local aquarium shop and buy live daphnia, they eat the stuff and multiply like crazy.
If you have more than one IBC you keep daphnia in one and fish in the other, circulate the water between the tanks and you have a very basic aquaponic system, with clear water.

Do you want to drink the water? Your vegetables won't mind the algae. I have algae in my IBC tank. I do try to grow some trees to shade the tank, but that's because UV degrades the plastic, so I'm looking for an attractive way to wrap it in sommat dark. If life gives you algae ...

I was just thinking of using weed-suppressant membrane to wrap it, then maybe grow a climber over the ali frame...

                Plants only, not or drinking.

Don't want pipes blocking up with nasty slime. They're nearly empty.
