    hi all allotment taking shape now making a compost heap can conifer clipping ok to go on the heap these will be small clippings

    Yes, just mix them in well with other stuff. They may take time to rot down. Shredding them would speed things up if possible.

          Smaller the pieces the quicker it rots.
          The bigger the heap to faster it works.
          Nitrogenous night watering (wee) helps to get the heap started, and turning it over once a month helps speed things along.

            The back chippings will produce an acid compost, ericaceous. I would use them as a mulch for heathers, rhodendrons or other acid loving plants.
