  • Dangerous plots

I just wondered what peoples experiences have been on dangerous plots and any stories of woe. The reason I ask is I took on another plot opposite my current one and had started clearing it however the other day when it had been raining I was working on the plot when my boots started sinking into the mud reaching the top of the boot and nearly loosing it in the ground I was thinking I would need a rope to pull myself out

Anyway the man from the council was down today and he has barred anyone from going on this plot due to the fact that the council payed £30,000 for land drainage on the site however the work was not done correctly as a result the ground in this area is not draining resulting in the plot being a danger.

I have moved to another second plot which has firm soil and as I only want to put pollytunnels on that plot I'm happy.

So what have been others bad experiences???

When I got mine it had been fly tipped on by other plot holders ( they were kicked off but no one cleaned up the rubbish) it took around 40 rubble sacks to clear my plot of glass, bricks, broken pots, carpet and other rubbish. I'm still finding odd bits now but the worst of it has gone as far as I know I want to make it a clean and safe plot for both myself and any potential owners in the future should I move on.

Ours is full of homicidal red ants and self aware stinging nettles. Does that count?
