  • small corgette plants

For 2 years now a large proportion of my courgette plants (grown form wilko mildew free seed) have grown, but the plants are very small - a bit like bonzi courgettes - with tiny leaves. Some of them also have flowers on them by the time they have about 5 leaves! (the leaves are only about 8cm). This has happened even to plants repotted into generous sized pots (25cm). And as some seem to grow normally - I cant understand what is going on! It does seem to happen to the earlier planted seeds (end feb planted inside) more than the later planted ones (april). Any ideas anyone? Is it something to do with wilko seed I wonder?

It's because you're sowing them far too early Sara. They should be sown about 6 weeks before your last frost date.
