    What about cutting a big pointy arrow out of cardboard (pref brightly coloured) and popping it on the ground near your plot number?

        Yorkshire Dales farmers have their own counting systems for sheep, they vary depending on stuff like which hand or pocket you put a pebble in (!), anyway, its called the 'yan, tan, tethera', which means one, two and three. So theres another for your list, 'yan'.
