I am in Aberdeen, and I have a non-legally-trained-person's viewpoint on this, based on the reading up on the pertinent legislation that I have already done.
I am also really keen to get involved in this issue, although I am not in Bucksburn, my plot is in the city centre. I will PM you.

Here in England it is the norm to pay the years rent within a month of it becoming due on the first of April. In my town that is �2.50 per rod, 50% off for Pensioners.

Oh yes, and how. Originally there was thought to be no need for Scottish allotments, as the enclosures acts that deprived the commoners of all their vegetable growing and livestock grazing land didn't happen in Scotland. However land use pressures on city areas and food shortages in wartime led to a change of mind, and the end result was urban areas that often didn't have the same provision of inner city allotment sites as England, and legislation that often was not enforced, and was not well known to the public.
As an example, the legislation I have seen, dated 1950, says that rent must be paid quarterly. We received a bill for �70, a year's rent, increased by �20, without notice. For allotments without any facilities, that's....not great value.

I've got a plot elsewhere in Aberdeen but I was really surprised there was no facilities. There's running water but it's a fair distance from a lot of the plots & no toilet nearby . I'm new at this allotment malarky but I thought there'd be some sort of skip nearby, to dump wood, etc. Saying that though Aberdeen City Council probably can't afford it!
