Nearly a week has passed since I planted my chill seeds and I have noticed some white fury stuff forming on the compost, I have my seeds in trays and tubs which are covered with air holes in them, they are also sitting in the airing cupboard. Is there anything I can do?

they may need more airflow as well, (seeing as you have them covered and in a warm place), to stop it formingVive Le Revolution!!!'Lets just stick it in, and see what happens?'

well i think so, on days when you can. I get it a lot too, especially in propogators, so i do try to open the greenhouse for a bit if it's not too cold, not that it is heated mind youOriginally posted by FionaH View PostSo damping off is bad right? Cos Ive got mould on some of my stuff in the greenhouse. I dont always get enough air in there.
Should I be opening the doors more often ?

Mould is caused by over-watering and insufficient airflow.
You don't need to buy Cheshunt Compound ~ just don't over-water in future, and get some air to your seeds. They shouldn't be steamy.
These ones have probably had it. I hate to say, but try sowing again after the shortest day. January would be good.Last edited by Two_Sheds; 11-12-2008, 07:16 AM.All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
