i have started a compost heap, i put layers of grass,weeds wet waste and chicken poo and newspaper. can i add anything to it to make the the process faster?

grass, comfrey leaves and wee all make it cook quicker. But you must add a mix of that with dry/brown stuff, like shredded paper/straw

You can buy a compost starter/accelerator, but to be quite honest urine is just as good. If you can't get animal urine, use your own. To be quite crude - pee in a bucket .

Oh, and cardboard!!
