Things on abandon plots

In our site we have so many empty plots.People has left behind a lots of good items.I am in need of compost bin and water buts there is few greenhouse frames.Is that okay to ask for it ? How is on your sites?

On both our previous sites we had designated site managers.
They knew if plots had been abandoned (i.e. Not paid up and officially not rented out.)
That would be the person to ask.

I wouldn't hesitate to request...first come first served in effect. But I certainly wouldn't just help myself, although I've seen others do just that.

There may be set regulations though on your site?

On our sites, if the plot is empty/given up and no effort is made to remove items within 28 days, subject approval from the site rep it may be removed.

This excludes water butts and compost bins as these were originally supplied by the council

We wait the 28 days from termination notice and then descend on the plot like birds or prey and share out what there, anything that is not wanted by anyone is inherited by the new plot holder.

Abandoned plots that aren't tenanted and some time has passed and all the stuff on it is up for grabs. My site rep even helped me rescue a polycarbonate greenhouse that was going to wrack and ruin last weekend. This weekend just gone I rescued a greenhouse door that was overgrown with brambles, and found a beautiful metal stand that I will paint and use as a bean frame.

We found some greenhouse frames too, all in pieces, but we've saved them and will put them in the community club house in case anyone needs a spare.

Exactly this. I've just let a plot that had a good shed with several padlocks on it, when they were finally cut by the new tenant, there was a working rotovator inside. Lucky newby lol

Our plots if given up, the renter has so long to remove what they want back, anything left on the plot is for the next renter and not available for anyone to take.

Having said that the guy in charge of the allotments from the council last year gave me permission to take anything in the shed on the plot next to my plot 3 as the guy had given it up, it was a thank you reward for taking on a truly horrendous job. Found a full roll of weed suppressor, debris netting, a mantis tiller and a HUGE roll of garden hose plus a gas camping stove with a dozen gas canisters and finally 3 unused tins of cuprinol green fence stain some of which I used to stain the fence on plot 1.

I am going to speak to site manager if I see him. But I would assume we have similar rules as I did not see anyone take things from other empty plots.And also we have so many empty ones so maybe its make it easier to rent out plot with things in.Altough when I got ours someone pinch few long metal posts from it but hard to say if that was plot holder or passer by.
