And mothawk patience unfortunately is something I have failed to acquire despite many years of growing. I have a terrible terrible habit which I can’t break of digging up seeds to see if they have germinated yet. I know it doesn’t do the seeds any good at all. Can’t help it. I am even scraping back the soil over my new raspberry plants to see if there are any new shoots (there are) And my shallots and onion sets in my poly tunnel keep getting lifted to examine if they’re developing roots (not yet).

I think I am incurable. The sad thing is I don’t even think I want to be cured.

If I had a magic wand, I'd make soil transparent so that you could see the roots and whether it was worthwhile digging up your carrots or not.

Hello ML and a warm welcome from the elephant contingent. By the sounds of it I think you are going to really add to the serious and daft nature of this wonderful forum.

p.s VC is nuts and will tempt you with 'out of the box' growing ideas.

Thank you all. After YEARS of my family regarding me as a complete eccentric I do believe I have stumbled upon a group of folks who ‘have it as bad’ as myself.
My next challenge is to learn how to upload photos on to the forum and then I will give you a photo tour of my growing areas and polytunnel.
How to do...? .. Hmmmmm....never a ten year old about when you want one!!!

                    Welcome.

When uploading photos watch the size. The forum software prevents photos over a certain size.

                    What county are you in?

You may have to make a few more posts before you can edit your profile and add a little photo (avatar).
I have a feeling you'll soon be able to do that.

Cool. I'm outside Banbridge - so down in the more tropical part of the county.

I dabbled in mead making for a few years - hence the name and avatar. Not for the last couple - though, I just haven't had the time.

I’m in banbridge too. Not too tropical today.
                            Could do with some mead...
