All sorts - apples, pears, plums. Cherries but the birds pick them first! and some "odd" things (mulberry, persimmon, medlar - that are too young to fruit yet). They're outdoors. Also peaches, nectarines and apricot in a polytunnel.
Plenty of raspberries, blackcurrants, jostaberries - and figs, grapes and I can't remember what else.
I recommend growing fruit as its perennial, needs minimal care once planted and gives structure to a garden - and you can plant veggies beneath the trees.

Ah cool, do you have any pictures of their run? I really like the sound of using their run to compost.
I only have 1 run for mine, with some apple pears and plum trees in there. The apples have fruited but not the pear or plums.

I couldn't agree more, I hope to plant more fruit bushes. I have alot of redcurrant that I am not using (about 40) so I should devise some way of planting them that doesnt restrict so much space.

That's a good size tunnel. My 14 x 25 tunnel is used just for my chillies ( I'm a little obsessed ), the 12 x 20 and the 10 x 10 is used for all the other inside crops.
I'm also a fan of fishing. So are you sea or fresh water fishing? You'll meet a few grapes that like there fishing.
Only hunting I do is bunnies. With the help of our little fang, Django, smudge and badge the ferrets.

I had wrote a reply but not sure if it posted or not.
That is alot of chillies

Mostly I would course fish in the rivers and loughs, some spinning for pike as the lough beside my house has pike that have been caught upwards of 20lbs. Mostly I would use feeders in the rivers for perch roach etc

I only do sea fishing come summer for the mackerel, thats how I got into smoking. I was using a whiskey barrel that worked very well however it didnt have alot of space. So I have found plans online for a cabinet smoker, so will be building that in the new year

Is there much work with the ferrets?

Hi Michael, sounds like you've got plenty of space and lots of projects. One thing you might find is that it's useful to use the search facility or start a thread to ask specific questions about things like composting chicken poo. You might find that there will be people with other views (always the way in gardening) or things to add but they won't spot your query in a thread like this.

Anyway, welcome. Hope you have lots of fun here and on your plot.

Have just had a look at your blog. Looks like you've got a lovely spot, Michael. And your chickens must be very happy. I don't know if this is feasible but maybe you could divide their run in two so that they're in one half while the other is recovering.

I was looking last year ar a guy who made panels with mesh on them that the chickens could stand and walk over it but not kill the grass
Now sure of it will work but it might. He had mixed reviews about it if I remember correctly

^^ I've seen them too online. Someone on here commented on them. I think he found them useful. I was thinking of trying them. Trouble is, chickens can get through a lot of grass!

Yeah, think I will try them this year. If they dont work could always reused as rabbit fencing or trellis... could find some use for them
