New to the forum

Hi,
I have recently joined the forum, been living outside of the UK for over 12 years now, but expect to be moving back in the near future.
My "gardening" has been in a much warmer climate, not even growing in soil as we know it. I do remember the seasons and the problems involved but will be looking for information and hints once moved back.
For now it's about research and reading until I get back.

Our members - Grapes are also hugely helpful and although you may be given several remedies to any given problems that will usually demonstrate what we all know. i.e there is no right way and no wrong way. If it works for you then go for it

We currently live in Tenerife, "up the mountain" at about 900m, we grow in jable, which is crushed volcanic rock used to cover the ground. It is seen everywhere. We grow the usual items, currently have Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, peas, potatoes, chillies and strawberries growing. During the hot summers we tend to leave everything as it just dies off.
We have lived here for over 12 years, in the UK we last lived in Ipswich. We intend to move back to mid or west Wales as there is more opportunities for homes with more land at a reasonable price.

Hello and welcome. Good luck with the move back to the UK.

Lots of friendly folk on here with loads of advice. There's also a selection of growing guides (one of the greyish brown tabs below the magazine's logo). One issue you won't have had to deal with in Tenerife is frost, I imagine. Might be worth asking about first and last frosts in the areas where you're looking.
