Not yet, but I'm planning to

    4 egg yolks
    100g caster sugar
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    400ml double cream
    200ml whole milk
500g gooseberries, topped, tailed and cooked in 3 tbsp caster sugar

Gooseberry ice cream | BBC Good Food

I bought ours specifically to use up our fruit glut (we don't like fresh fruit, or jam, or juice).
We've (by that I mean I have) used it every day* since purchase. The blackcurrants are nearly gone, all the strawbs, now just waiting for the raspberries to come

i have an Andrew James machine .which beats and freezes at the same time .makes icecream and sorbets in approx 30 mins and the result is delicious. Well worth the expense and space it takes .

I'm thinking to buy an Andrew James because the price and good reviews + voted "Best Buy" ice cream maker by Which mag, but I'm not sure if the bowl will fit in my freezer...

you do not put the andrew james machine in the freezer it actually freezes the mix itself as it has a built in freezer unit

Well I finally bit the bullet and have ordered an Ice Cream maker. Decided in the end to go for the cheaper option of getting one where you put the bowl in the freezer and went for the Andrew James at £20 plus delivery. It should be here in a couple of days so I will report back on how it goes

The £20 one discussed here doesn't freeze, am guessing you must have a posher model by the same maker

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                                Welcome to the vine Baglady

I only make ice cream occasionally, so I do the freeze-it-whizzit-freeze-it routine.

I used to work for a lady who had a magimix (I think) gelato chef, that made ice cream from scratch in 25 minutes. It was brilliant. She used to have a lot of bridge parties and dinner parties through the summer, and there's nothing quite like serving freshly made ice cream with desserts. And because it was so easy to use, it was much more fun inventing new flavours and combinations.

Easy to clean too. That's important, 'cos if it ain't easy to clean, you're not going to keep using it.
