  • Electric lawn mower recommendations

Looking for recommendations for an electric lawn mower. OH does the mowing and doesn't get on with petrol mowers. We have a very small lawn that is next to the house with easy access to an RCD power socket in the back porch, so electric is ideal.

Would like a robust, easy-height-adjustable, can-deal-with-bumpy-lawn mower that gives a nice finish. Took a look at the mower selection in B&Q today, but they all seemed a bit flimsy and gimmicky.

    Thanks!

Ours is a Black & Decker - bought it about 5 yrs ago, can't remember which one, but it's green. Wheels easily pull out (on springs) and relocate to adjust the height. Box is easy to remove/empty and it's been pretty good thus far. No complaints.

Mine's real flimsy, but I love it. I couldn't heft anything bigger

Your answer is the Hayter Envoy. It fits all your criteria perfectly. The only downsides are price (I think you can get them for about £140, but also worth checking eBay etc for second hand examples) and a relatively small grass bucket. However, if you've a small lawn, this isn't really an issue.

It will cope admirably with lumpy ground. It will handle the first cut of the year, when the grass is 8" long because it's been raining for months, and is still a bit wet, with no trouble. Height adjustment takes two seconds to move a lever, and has good variation.

It came out very well (might have even been top) in a Which? survey at some point too.
