  • Soil Moisture Meter

I can't praise mine highly enough & don't think I would want to ever be without one again.

After noticing (particularly with peat-free compost) that it can look wet/dry on the top but that's not indicative of the soil moisture level below the surface, this handy gadget has definitely helped me to make sure I'm not over or under watering.

Many brands are available at various prices from different retailers but mine is made by Garland Products & was purchased for under £10. It's paid for itself many times over.

Just poke it into the soil & it rates on a scale of 1 to 10 ranging from dry-moist-wet

    No batteries required.

I've had mine since June 2024 & I'm totally in love with it. I've lost count of the number of times when I would or wouldn't have watered but the moisture meter told me to do the opposite.

I've only ever used those poke in green plastic ones. I think they were freebies on my water company site years ago, along with shower timers and sink drain cover thingys.

Oo… now that’s a good idea!…I have been thinking about getting one for a while as I tend to kill off indoor plants.
Also I can see it’d be useful for the pots in full sun on our new patio .
Having had a quick look online, it appears that a decent one would only cost £20.
