Diary of a Reluctant Green by R.Hallows.
An amusing good quick read...just a brief recommendation here. The author was not/still is not, an Eco Warrior, but did a one year 'green' experiment to see if he could save money and become more eco-friendly. He gives a good balanced argument for and against being green, points out hypocrisies and realises that one man on his own can only change himself, not save the planet. However,
He saved:
£600 by simply changing his route as he drove to school
£800 by changing how he bought his food (less waste, not cheaper brands)
£300 on electric (he raves about his Electrisave gadget, see link)
he started to grow his own veg, but sadly didn't calculate how much he spent/saved that way
