Every year I loose a fair few of plum tomatoes with blossom end rot, this year I bought some seeds ( giant plum tomatoes) and boy are they big and no end rot. I have them in raised beds in a polytunnel . They dont have so many on the plants but the largest are already the size of a conference pear. I use these to preserve as Passat each year. Just wondering if anyone has had these tomatoes and how theyve got on with them

I think they are a variety from the Burpee company, that are called Super Mama F1 in Europe, and Gladiator F1 in the USA.Originally posted by Linden View PostFound the invoice. They are called super mama from nickys nursery.
Burpee say that 'Strong roots conquer enemies such as blossom end rot.' which is interesting.

I've often thought that varieties prone to BER seem to have less good root systems, at least early season. If this hybrid has a stronger root system, then it could better cope with uneven watering conditions. Which would reduce the chances of BER.
